43rd Annual Kiwanis Run By The River Virtual 5K Run and 5K Walk (Event)
Between 12:01 AM EDT, Thursday, June 11, 2020 through Midnight EDT, Saturday, June 13, 2020. All runs and walks must be completed, by Midnight EDT, Saturday, June 13,2020 .
Since the COVID-19 OUTBREAK outdoor gathering and distancing restrictions have been imposed, this year's Event will be a virtual 5K run or a 5K walk. The race/walk may be completed anywhere, anytime, in any state or around the world. You may run or walk indoors, outdoors or on a treadmill as long as you run or walk 5K (3.1 miles).
Registration and Entry Fees:
All registrations and payments this year will be online at runbytheriver.com. Fees for this year's race are $25 plus a $2 processing fee, for a total of $27. At the top of the Home page click on Registration. This is a two step process: FIRST: fill out the registration form and click SEND. SECOND: click on the BUY NOW button and pay with your PayPal account or Credit Card. All payments are processed through PayPal. All registrations must be completed online and all fees paid before 10 PM EDT, Saturday, June 13, 2020.
Report your time:
Once you have completed your run or walk, return to the runbytheriver.com website, go to the "Runner Time Enter" page to enter your name, e-mail and race time. You may also text name, e-mail address, and time to the race director at 740-532-9688. YOUR TIME MUST BE SUBMITTED PRIOR TO MIDNIGHT EDT, SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2020 .
No trophies will be awarded this year. Commemorative T-shirts and a special medal will be mailed to all runners approximately one week after the Event.
Race results will be posted Sunday, June 14, 2020 at https://runbytheriver.com, and on facebook Information on the race will be posted periodically on the Facebook.com/RunByTheRiver page, so please visit the page and like the page so you will get the information. If you would like to post pictures of your run or walk on the Facebook page, feel free to do so.
Goal of RBTR: Raise funds to support community service projects which include: Thanksgiving baskets for 50 families, back to school backpacks, Shop with a Cop at Christmas, summer reading programs, family resource centers at Russell, Raceand-Worthington and
Greenup County public school districts in our county, and scholarships for a KeyClub member from each of our sponsored schools.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
What is a Virtual Race? A virtual race is a race that you may run or walk in any location – your favorite running route, on a treadmill, on a track, on trails. You have the flexibility and convenience of running it at any time of the day and at your own pace.
What Distance is this Event? This year’s Event is a 5K (3.1 miles) run or walk only.
When will the race take place? You may run/walk any time between 12:01 AM EDT, Thursday, June 11, 2020, and midnight, EDT June 13, 2020. The run/walk must be completed and time reported by midnight EDT, June 13, 2020.
How do I register? All registrations must be completed on our website: runbytheriver.com. At the top of the page click “Registration,” then fill out the form. A parent or guardian must approve participation of runners 17 and under by typing their name into the parent/guardian box on the form. Registration is a TWO-STEP PROCESS. After completing the registration form,
click SEND THEN go to the payment section and complete your payment ($27). Repeat these two steps for each entry.
When do I report my results? We are using the honor system on reporting times. After you complete your run-walk, go to our website, runbytheriver.com. At the top of the page, select Runner Time Entry and complete and send the form. If several family members are running and reporting, enter each one separately. The name line should have the runner’s name as registered.
What swag will I get and when will I get it? Each paid participant will receive a commemorative shirt and finisher medal. Shirts
and medals will be ordered immediately following the registration deadline at midnight EDT, Wednesday, June 10, 2020, so that everyone gets their correct size shirt. Shirts and medals will be mailed as soon as received, and you should have them approximately one week after the end of the race.
Cancellation/Refunds? Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund for this event. Weather will not cancel the race as you pick to day and time to run.
Can I post pictures somewhere? If you would like to share a picture of your run/walk, you may post to Facebook.com/runbytheriver. Be sure to report your time through our runbytheriver.com website so we may share that information with all our participants.
