SCHOLARSHIP GOES TO LEIGH GRUBB

Leigh Gribb is the winner of the 2017 Kiwanis Key Club scholarship at Raceland-Worthington High School.

Grubb, daughter of David and Bettina Grubb of Worthington, received the $1,000 award during a recent meeting of the Kiwanis Club of East Greenup County from Don Golightly, club president, and Lisa Henderson, chairman of the scholarship committee.

She plans to attend Northern Kentucky University where she will pursue a degree in nursing.

She played softball and volleyball for the Rams, was valedictorian of her graduating class, was a member of both the Key Club and Beta Club, and volunteered at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

RUSSELL KEY CLUB KIWANIS SCHOLARSHIP GOES TO JOSEY OWENS


Josey Owens is the recipient of the 2017 Kiwanis Key Club scholarship at Russell High School.

The $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of East Greenup County and was presented to Owens during a recent meeting by Don Golightly, club president, and Lisa Henderson, chairman of the scholarship committee.

Owens is the daughter of Terry and Jessica Owens of Russell, will be attending Eastern Kentucky University, focusing her studies on secondary education.

At Russell High School, Owens was captain of the girls varsity soccer team. She was president of the Kiwanis-sponsored Key Club and a member of the Beta Club.

She dedicated free time to Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and tutoring students at Russell Middle School. One of the primary components of the scholarship is community service.
